CORVALLIS - Oregon State University will host its annual picnic for alumni and friends, current and prospective students and their parents on Tuesday, July 28, at Cascade Gateway Park in Salem. The picnic will begin at 6 p.m.

OSU will provide hamburgers, beverages and table service for everyone. Persons whose last name begins with N-Z are asked to bring a salad for six to eight people. Those with last names beginning with A-M are asked to bring a dessert for six to eight.

President Paul Risser and his wife, Les, will be at the picnic, as will representatives of OSU's athletic department, alumni association, and various colleges within the university.

More than 6,600 OSU graduates live in the Marion County area alone, according to Lawson Knight of the OSU Alumni Association. Another 1,000 students from the area currently attend Oregon State, he added.
