CORVALLIS - Bill Atkinson, a professor emeritus of forest engineering at Oregon State University, has received the lifetime achievement award from the Western Forestry and Conservation Association.
This is the highest recognition made by this Portland, Ore., professional organization for promoting forest stewardship in western North America. The group was founded in 1909.
Atkinson is a former president of the organization. Recently retired as professor and head of the OSU Department of Forest Engineering, he was recognized by the association for "a lifetime of promoting the science and practice of forestry for the sustainable production of goods, services and uses of forest resources."
