CORVALLIS - Richard Meganck, an environmental toxicologist and administrator with the United Nations Environment Programme, will present a lecture on that agency's work Jan. 13 at Oregon State University.

The lecture is titled "Reflections on the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations: What can we expect from the Environment Programme in the next 25 years?" It will be in Wilkinson Hall Room 108 from 4-5 p.m. Sponsored by the Department of Geosciences, it is free and open to the public.

Meganck is an alumnus and former faculty member of the OSU College of Forestry. During a 25-year career in international development and management of natural resources, he has conducted nearly 250 technical and administrative missions to 91 countries. He is on a one-year leave of absence from the United Nations and writing a book, he says, on "the lighter side of war, famine and pestilence."
