CORVALLIS- Home gardeners in western Oregon can pick up valuable tips and insights on their favorite hobby when Oregon State University hosts its eighth annual, day-long workshop "Insights into Gardening."

This series of informal and practical classes, seminars and displays - all centered around themes of home gardening - will be held Saturday, Feb. 28 at OSU's LaSells Stewart Center. It is sponsored by the Benton County office of the OSU Extension Service and Benton County Master Gardeners.

"Classes will cover the gamut of gardening, from low water landscapes and native plants to how to diagnose plant problems and the care and use of garden tools," said Mary Fran Fryer, co-chair of the event. "Other classes will cover vegetables, non-native invasive weeds, orchids, peonies, hostas and daylilies."

The all-day seminar costs $10 and includes nine classes plus displays and an on-site bookstore. Last year, this popular event attracted more than 300 gardeners.
