CORVALLIS - An exhibit of sketches, drawings and paintings under the title, "Unruly Cosmos," will open at Oregon State University on April 6.

The display of progressive work by George D. Green will be exhibited at Fairbanks Gallery in OSU's Fairbanks Hall, at the corner of 26th Street and Jefferson Way. It is free and open to the public.

A free public reception will be held for the artist from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on April 8 at the gallery.

A native Oregonian, Green studied at both OSU and the University of Oregon, then went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree from Washington State University. He has had more than 50 solo exhibits and his work has been collected at several prestigious museums.

"In his paintings, Green defies the mainstream of art paradigms and explores what he thinks of as the 'unruly cosmos,' employing imagery atypical of conventional notions in contemporary art,"said OSU gallery director Douglas Russell.

Green's work will be the subject of a gallery talk by Russell that begins at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, in Fairbanks Gallery. The talk is free and open to the public.

Fairbanks Gallery is open to the public weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit will continue through May 13.
