CORVALLIS - An Oregon State University statewide satellite teleconference called "At Death's Door: What are the Choices?" will be held Wednesday, Oct. 15.

The teleconference will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. and will include a non-partisan panel discussion of death and dying as it is treated in the National Issues Forum booklet "At Death's Door." The booklet offers three policy choices:

• Die with dignity

   

• Improve care for the dying

   

• Sustain life above all else

The panel will feature Courtney Campbell, an OSU associate professor of philosophy, and Bonnie Reagan, a Portland family practice physician.

The program is sponsored by the Public Issues Education Initiative of the OSU Extension Service and the public is invited to participate. Call your local office of the OSU Extension Service for information on viewing sites.

The panel discussion may be viewed live in Room 278 of Kidder Hall on the OSU campus.

The public is also invited to a public policy forum on death and dying, which will be held Oct. 15 from 7:30-9 p.m. in the Agriculture Sciences Room at the LaSells Stewart Center on the OSU campus. Judy Burridge, chair of Linn County OSU Extension Office, will be forum moderator. It is not necessary to have attended the afternoon teleconference to participate in the evening session.

This forum will not be a debate of Measure 51, but rather an opportunity for participants to clarify their personal positions on the public policy of death and dying through moderated discussions with other citizens.
