CORVALLIS - Octave Levenspiel, a professor emeritus of chemical engineering at Oregon State University, has received the 1997 Warren K. Lewis Award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
The award, made for distinguished and continuing contributions to chemical engineering education, is the highest honor given for engineering teaching by this professional organization. In particular, it recognized Levenspiel's "original, unique contributions which made knowledge of chemical reaction engineering a cornerstone of the chemical engineering curriculum and a defining characteristic of the profession."
Levenspiel received his doctorate in chemical engineering from OSU in 1952 and has been on the OSU faculty since 1968.
