CORVALLIS - Agricultural Honors Scholarships totaling more than $69,000 have been awarded to students entering or continuing in the Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences.

"Beginning Venture" scholarships went to students entering the college's programs at Corvallis or on the Eastern Oregon University campus in LaGrande.

"Continuing Venture" awards were made to previous Agricultural Honors Scholarship recipients.

Students receiving Beginning Venture awards are:

ASHLAND

Macrina Savko, daughter of Madeline Savko and Michael Savko. The 1997 graduate of Ashland High School is studying general agriculture. She received the $1,000 scholarship given by the Naumes Family of Medford.

ASTORIA

Janae Cruikshank, daughter of Dennis and Sandy Burley, is studying agricultural business management. The 1996 graduate of Knappa High School received a $2,000 award sponsored by Fisher Implement Company and Oregon Women for Agriculture.

AURORA

Michael Peoples, son of Dave and Helen Peoples. The 1997 graduate of Canby High School is enrolled in the bioresource research program. His $1,000 scholarship is sponsored by the Burlingham Family in memory of Frank Burlingham.

CANBY

Domini Bennett, daughter of Robert and Teresa Bennett. She is studying agricultural business management. The 1997 graduate of North Clackamas High School received the $1,000 award sponsored by Farm Credit Services of Oregon.

CENTRAL POINT

Chadd Griffin, son of Jim and Anna Griffin. The 1997 graduate of Crater High School is studying agricultural and resource economics. His $1,000 scholarship is sponsored by the Grange Co-op of Central Point.

CLACKAMAS

Jonathan Velez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Velez. The 1994 graduate of Damascus Christian School entered OSU from Mt. Hood Community College to study animal sciences. His $1,000 award is sponsored by the Savery fund in the Agricultural Research Foundation.

COOS BAY

Paul Starkey, son of Scott and Kim Starkey. The 1997 graduate of Marshfield High School is studying fisheries science. His $1,000 award is sponsored by the Savery fund of the Agricultural Research Foundation.

Hilary Derry, daughter of Robert and Patricia Derry. The 1997 graduate of Corvallis High School is studying agricultural and resource economics. Her $1,000 scholarship is sponsored by Cenex Supply and Marketing of Madras and Tangent.
Leah Gross, daughter of Pauline Gross and Leland Gross, is enrolled in the bioresource program. She is a 1996 graduate of Corvallis High School. Her $1,000 scholarship is sponsored by Harvest States Foundation of St. Paul, Minn. .
Avery McCombs, son of Loretta Rivard, is enrolled in the bioresource research program. The 1997 graduate of Corvallis High School received the $1,000 Jess Hanson scholarship given by Elinor McKee and Richard Hanson of Corvallis.
Jennifer Radke, daughter of Edward and Janet Radke. The 1997 graduate of Corvallis High School is majoring in animal sciences. She received the $1,000 award sponsored by the Eugene Farmers Co-op.

COVE

Colby Johnson, son of DeWayne and Mary Jane Johnson. He is studying agricultural business management in the OSU agriculture program on the Eastern Oregon University campus. The 1997 graduate of Cove High School received a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by Harvest States Foundation of St. Paul, Minn.

ELGIN

Chandra Christenson, daughter of Chris Christenson and Tari Homan, is studying agricultural business management in the OSU program at Eastern Oregon University. The 1997 graduate of Elgin High School received the $1,000 award sponsored by the Harvest States Foundation of St. Paul, Minn.

April Edtl, daughter of Kim and Julie Lamb, is a pre-veterinary major in animal sciences. The 1997 graduate of Enterprise High School received $1,000 in scholarships sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Fisher of Oakland and the Burlingham Family in memory of Frank Burlingham.

Diane McFetridge, daughter of Darrell and Marlie McFetridge, is studying food science and technology. The 1997 graduate of Enterprise High School received a $1,000 Clifford Smith Memorial Scholarship given by Helen Smith of Corvallis.

FLORENCE

Jon Jensen, son of Ann Jensen, is studying wildlife science. The 1997 graduate of Siuslaw High School received the $1,000 scholarship given by the Harvest States Foundation of St. Paul., Minn.

Thomas Genco, son of Thomas and Francine Genco, is enrolled in wildlife science. He is a 1997 graduate of Gaston High School. His $1,000 scholarship is sponsored by the Savery fund of the Agricultural Research Foundation.

Jennifer Baird, daughter of Marlene Baird. The 1997 David Douglas High School graduate is studying animal sciences. Her $1,000 scholarship is given by the Harvest States Foundation of St. Paul, Minn.

Kelly Morgan, son of Virgil and Debbie Morgan. The 1997 graduate of Ione High School is studying in the OSU agriculture program at Eastern Oregon University. Her $1,000 award is sponsored by Pendleton Grain Growers.
