CORVALLIS - A ServiceMaster employee working at Oregon State University was arrested by the Oregon State Police Sunday night and charged with 14 felony counts relating to the misuse of computer equipment.

Douglas Wayne Schulte, 37, of Halsey was lodged in the Benton County Jail. Bail is set at $70,000.

Schulte was charged with six counts of burglary in the second degree, six counts of computer crime, and two counts of encouraging sexual abuse of a minor. Each of the accounts is a Class C felony, according to Lt. Jack Rogers, station commander of the Oregon State Police at OSU.

Each Class C felony is punishable by a maximum of five years in prison and a fine of $10,000.

The arrest came after an investigation in which a faculty member in Strand Agricultural Hall reported that his computer had been tampered with and used to access pornography on the Internet. The Department of Public Safety at OSU and the Oregon State Police set up a surveillance camera, which recorded the crime early Saturday morning, Rogers said.

ServiceMaster is under contract with OSU to provide custodial service for much of the university.
