CORVALLIS, Ore. - A graduation ceremony that includes an address by a prominent national speaker will be held Sunday, May 19, for the 14th graduating class of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University.

The 33 new doctors of veterinary medicine will be recognized in a program beginning at 1:30 p.m. in the LaSells Stewart Center on the OSU campus. It is free and open to the public.

Most OSU graduates will attend the regular commencement on June 16.

A widely known motivational speaker, Tom Sullivan, will present the graduation address at the veterinary doctor graduation ceremony.

Sullivan, who is blind, is a nationally recognized singer, entertainer, actor, composer, and athlete whose autobiography, "If You Could See What I Hear," was made into a major motion picture. He is also a national spokesman for the Morris Animal Founda tion, which supports animal health studies.

Degrees in the graduation ceremony will be conferred by Paul G. Risser, president of OSU. The administration of the veterinarian's oath will be made by Michael Foland, president of the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association. Veterinary faculty from OSU, the University of Idaho and Washington State University, who collaborate on OSU's program of veterinary education, will also participate in the ceremony.

Employment prospects for the graduating doctors of veterinary medicine, as usual, should be near 100 percent, university officials say.
