CORVALLIS, Ore. - The 91st annual meeting of the American Dairy Science Association will be held July 14-17 at Oregon State University, attracting about 1,700 international experts in dairy science to discuss the latest findings in the field.

This is the primary meeting of the year for this professional association and only the second time that OSU has ever hosted the conference.

"Dairy experts from all over the world will attend these meetings," said Robert Van Saun, an OSU assistant professor of veterinary medicine and conference organizer.

The events will include dozens of research presentations, poster sessions on dairy production and dairy foods, commercial exhibits by more than 30 companies and other agencies, tours of university facilities and nearby dairy farms, recreational events and an awards ceremony.

OSU is a world leader in research, education and Extension in dairy production, food technology, dairy microbiology, and large animal veterinary medicine. Work is conducted in the departments of animal science, food science and technology, microbiology, and the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Topics or research presentations at the meetings range from studies of frozen yogurt manufacturing to the fine points of manure management, bacteria counts in the New York milk supply, how contact with pizza sauce affects the meltability of mozzarella cheese, milk-based weaning foods in underdeveloped countries and the structural properties of buffalo milk.

Event, research presentations and activities will be held both at the LaSells Stewart Center and the OSU Memorial Union.
