CORVALLIS - Kathleen D. Moore, chair of the Department of Philosophy at Oregon State University, will read from her new book during a meeting of the OSU Honor Society of Agriculture, the Zeta Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta, on April 25 at OSU.
Moore's presentation begins at 8 p.m. in OSU's Memorial Union Room 109. An awards ceremony and dessert for OSU's Gamma Sigma Delta chapter will precede the talk at 7 p.m. More than 20 OSU students and faulty members will be inducted as new members and scholarship winners will be announced. The public is invited.
Moore is author of "Riverwalking: Reflections on Moving Water," a volume of natural history essays which has received national acclaim. She will also read from a work-in-progress, "Notes from the Pig Barn Path," based on her thoughts collected during her daily walks along OSU agricultural fields.
"Agriculturists and naturalists share, a sense of place, a feeling for the landscape," Moore said. "I would like to talk about this link with the land - our common ground."
Moore is co-founder of the Program for Ethics, Science and the Environment at OSU.
Gamma Sigma Delta is an national honorary organization that encourages advancement and improvement in all branches of the agricultural sciences and industry.
